FAQ ..because you can’t put everything in a sidebar

- What program do you use to make your gifs/graphics?
Photoshop CS5.

- Where do you get your textures?
Wherever I can. Most of the time I get them at: textureporn, textures_r_us, deviantart.com (in the resources section), slayground, ex-posed.com, lostandtaken.com, stewark, planets-bend-between-us, wicked-fate, and random Google searches.

- Do you write tutorials?
Unfortunately I don’t. I used to make them years ago but I have a tendency to go way into details so writing tutorials takes me an infinite amount of time and quite frankly I just don’t have the energy for it anymore.

- Do you post your PSD’s?
I posted one but don’t expect seeing my psds often. I colorize all of my graphics from scratch, therefore I don’t save any psds unless some miraculous occasion occurs. Plus i’m not too crazy about sharing all of my techniques out in the open. As silly as this may sound, I work hard to achieve my ‘own signature style’ and I know some people tend to copy psds step by step instead of using them for reference.

- Do you take requests?
Due to lack of time, I can’t. Once in a while i’ll put a post up saying “give me a fandom/etc and i’ll make a graphic based on it” so that’s your closest chance to request something. I don’t mind suggestions but only for movies/shows/celebrities i’m interested in (because where’s the fun in making fanart for stuff i’m not fan of? lol).

- How do you achieve that glowing look in your graphics?
It’s not one specific thing but more of an overall result thanks to adjustments/blending/tools/coloring/etc. I use the Dodge and Burn tools that already let you manually add glow and shadows on the pictures. Your amount of brightness & contrast also helps (I use Screen and Soft Light more often, sometimes Curves but not as much these days). Playing with the Highlights settings of the Color Balance adjustment layer is crucial when it comes to the glow-y effect. I also use Channel Mixer towards the end to give it a final touch. As I said, it’s not one specific thing but many little touches that give a ‘glowing’ effect. Don’t be afraid to experiment with Photoshop, go for subtlety instead of big drastic effects and you can get some really lovely results.

- Where did you get your current theme?
I’m currently using theme #2 (with some tweaks here & there) by tomkirk.
